Shiloh Chapel is an independent and autonomous evangelical church answerable to no ecclesiastical body except by its own consent.
The purpose of Shiloh Chapel is to proclaim the good news that Jesus truly saves.
Our desire is for Shiloh Chapel to be a place where all may grow into fully mature Christians through relevant Bible preaching and instruction, inspirational worship, and fellowship.
We Believe:
- …that the sixty-six books of the Holy Scriptures are inspired by God. Every word, word form, and word placement found in the Bible’s original manuscripts was divinely inspired, intentionally written, and our highest authority. We believe in the literal, grammatical, contextual, and historical interpretation of the Bible, comparing scripture with scripture and will always use these methods of interpretation to guide our teaching, faith, and practice. While there may be several applications of a message of scripture, there is only one correct interpretation of its original meaning. (John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
- …in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalms 19:1; 90:2; Isaiah 41:4; 44:6; Matthew 28:18-19, John 1:1; Acts 17:24-25; Romans1:20; 11:36; Hebrews 11:6)
- … that as eternal God, and only begotten of God the Father, Jesus took on human flesh when the virgin Mary was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. Thus, the Lord Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. (Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1-3, 14-15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:16-17; 1 Timothy 2:5)
- …that mankind was created in the image of God in Adam Through Adam all inherited a sin nature thereby incurring physical death and prior to conversion are spiritually dead, which is separation from God. Although not explicitly stated in Scripture, we believe, based on the whole counsel of God’s Word, that children are safe from the wrath of God at death until they reach a state of accountability, which only God knows. (Genesis 1:27; 2:18-23; 3:17-19; 5:1-2; 2 Samuel 12:21-23; Psalms 51:5; John 15:5; 6:4; Matthew 19:14; Romans 1:20; 3:23; 5:12; 6:23; 8:6-8; 1 Corinthians 15:22; Colossians 1:21-23; 2:13; 1 John 2:2)
- …that Jesus Christ died as the only substitutionary atonement for sin, and that all who believe upon and confess Him as Lord and Savior are justified on the basis of His finished work on the cross. This satisfied the wrath of God the Father, once for all time. Christ was buried and rose bodily from the dead according to the Scriptures. He ascended into Heaven where He lives to advocate for us as our High Priest. (Isaiah 53:5-6, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 13:38-39, 1 John 1:7, Matthew 28:5-6; Luke 24:51; Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 7:25-26, 1 John 2:1-2, John 3:36, Romans 3:21-26)
- …that salvation is by grace, through faith and not of works. All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation become children of God and are born again (regenerated) by the Holy Spirit. (John 1:12-13, John 3:6-8; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2:4-9)
- …that the Church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated believers are members. We believe that a viable Church is a body of believers in Jesus Christ, associated for the study and proclamation of Holy Scripture. The Church performs His work through discipling, worshipping, corporate prayer, and fellowship. We believe there are two ordinances of the church: (1) believers’ baptism by immersion, (2) the Lord’s Supper observed regularly, “til he come”. God has laid upon the Church the task of sharing the Gospel message with lost souls, in the hope that they will accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Regenerated believers should strive to grow in their sanctification, to walk by the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, and to reflect the light of Christ to the spiritually dark world. (Ephesians 1:22-23; James 1:27; 1 Peter 2:12; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:7-8; John 15:1-17; Galatians 5:16-26)
- …that all who are in Christ, both living and dead, will be raised and given literal, physical, eternal, glorified bodies. That Christ Himself will physically return to set up His Kingdom on earth and reign for 1000 years. This period is referred to as the Millennial Reign of Christ. Afterward, Christ will judge those who did not receive Him for salvation, and they will be cast into the lake of fire for eternal punishment. Finally, the saved will rule and reign with Christ forever in eternal peace. (John 14:2-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Matthew 24:29-31; Revelation 1:7; 19:11; 20:6; John 5:28-29, Daniel 12:2-3; Matthew 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)
- As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we covenant together to become a people for God who glorify Him, as in love we live out The Bible by the power of the Holy Spirit until Jesus Christ comes again.
